The Rimon Toolkit

Rimon is advancing a "toolkit" of advanced wound care products that address the current, unmet needs in chronic wound care: 1) MI-Sorb™ and MI-Gel™ dressings, which reduce the activity of chemicals in the body that "chew apart" chronic wounds faster than they can heal; 2) beads of the Angiogenic Theramer™ (Angiobeads™) which enhance blood supply to healing tissue and induce new blood vessel development (angiogenesis); and, 3) anti-microbial coatings of the AM Theramer™, which manage wound infection by destroying bacteria without harming human cells.

MI-Sorb™ is a Class I medical device. It can be applied to wounds dry, to provide absorptive capacity for exudating wounds, or can be pre-soaked to support moist wound healing. The first clinical trials of the MI-Sorb™ Dressing are underway. MI-Gel™ is a low viscosity liquid that gels on contact with skin, conforming to the size and shape of the wound while maintaining a moist wound healing environment. When it is time to change the dressing, or the wound has healed, MI-Gel™ can be returned to its liquid state by washing the area with cool saline, thus avoiding injury to the new, fragile skin.

Other products now being developed by Rimon include an anti-microbial coating for medical devices such as in-dwelling catheters, a coronary stent coating, and an injectable to treat osteoarthritis and other degenerative joint diseases. These all represent billion-dollar markets. MI Theramer™ prevents the degradation of tissue associated with numerous diseases and aids in wound healing.
